So I went to www.baseball-reference.com to try to figure out from the numbers if the Braves are actually just a terrible team.
There are several indicators of poor performance offensively, but none so striking as this one. Do you know how many stolen bases the Braves have this year AS A TEAM? Four. FOUR!
I know that no one statistic is the source of losses, but isn’t this a young team? We’re not really hitting home runs (4th from last in the NL), we’re second in hitting into double plays, and we’re near the bottom in team RBIs.
It seems like stealing a bases, even if your caught sometimes, would go a long way toward producing more runs. Most of the guys in the line up are young and possess above average speed. So what gives, Bobby?
